Synopsis
India was playing a one-day match with Australia in Kanpur. Cricket in India, especially in a small town like Lucknow is a wonderful social leveller. Murad Ali is 65 but his love for cricket had not diminished. His younger brother Bilal and the children would support Murad Ali’s love for the game. Bilal’s son Shahid had gone to Kanpur to watch the match live. Murad’s daughter-in-law Arti had come down from London to celebrate his birthday that she shared with him.
The game started well but then India started to lose. JUST THEN, on another channel, News broke about a massive bomb blast in a train in Bhopal. Three suspects were identified and SHAHID was one of the suspects. But he had gone to Kanpur to watch the match. Anti Terror Squad, the Police and the Press swooped down. Shahid was found holed up in a house in Kanpur and was eventually killed in an encounter. Bilal was arrested on charges of colluding with his son.
Murad Ali had not spoken to Bilal in ten years, before that day in jail. Bilal breaks down, he had no idea what his son was up to. The evidences point at Bilal. Most friends and relatives distance themselves. Murad must wear his Advocate’s coat once again. He has two tasks on hand. One- To prove that his brother was innocent. Two- To prove to his friends, family and Ameenabad that they love their country as much as any other Indian.
